Milton H. Erickson

Mission Statement

The Milton H. Erickson Institute of Southeast Florida is dedicated to the serious understanding of Ericksonian methods for application with individuals, families, groups, corporations and generally, in interpersonal communication. The Institute encourages scholarly research and clinical practice by qualified, well-trained professionals.

About the Institute

The Institute was established to train health professionals who wish to broaden their range of treatment modalities to include Ericksonian Hypnosis and the New Hypnosis. In addition, the Institute provides information on clinical hypnosis to the public, a referral service and a speaker’s bureau. We regard hypnosis as a clinical adjunct to the practice of health professions. Therefore, we do not train "hypnotists", but professionals who will use Ericksonian Hypnosis and the New Hypnosis in their specialties.

In 1979, the Milton H. Ericson Institute of New York was formed in Manhattan, NY. Then, in 1992, the Long Island Institute of Ericksonian Hypnosis was started as a "satellite" to serve the needs of New York and Long Island. After several successful years, with the relocation of one of its directors, yet another institute, the Milton H. Institute of Southeast Florida was formed under the same leadership. Since 2003, the Milton H. Erickson Institute of Southeast Florida has sought to serve the needs of professionals seeking training in this region of Florida.

The Milton H. Erickson Institute of Southeast Florida is the approved regional Institute for the Milton H. Erickson Foundation, based in Phoenix Arizona.
